PES S.A. micromotors offer is designed and manufactured by Servotecnica who is taking advantage from its long experience in the motion-control field to bring into the market a micromotors range with the right quality/cost balance that was missing for a long time. In the catalog, we can find both brushless micromotors and brushed DC micromotors.
Brushless micromotors offer lasting performances thanks to the lack of brushes that are subject to wear and can put the motor out of service. Other typical benefits of this technology are: high dynamic (high speed and acceleration), noise reduction and low electromagnetic interferences (EMI). They were considered for year as an expensive alternative to traditional brushed motors for low power applications but brushless micromotors are now very competitive and offer high performances.
Brushed micromotors are equipped with graphite brushes, their special design consists of a coreless winding. This offers several benefits such as less mass and inertia enabling high accelerations or decelerations. Furthermore, the lack of iron reduces “iron losses” to provide higher efficiencies (up to 90 percent) than traditional DC motors. Last, but not least, the coreless design reduces winding inductance, so sparking between the brushes and commutator is reduced, increasing motor life and reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
